Some screw up!  Due to some major restructuring of the Chompie brand and our company as a whole, we've been down for the past several weeks!  We apologize for any inconveniences, but assure you that we're ready to pick up where we left off.  Chompie is back... for good.  Everyone here at Chompie HQ (well... all five of us) really appreciate the continued support and dedication to discovering "websites and services that don't suck".

Oh, and some good news... we're just weeks from finally being out of beta.  Chompie's back-end and offices here in Jacksonville Beach, Florida are 97% complete!

Well it didn't take nearly as long as we thought it would... as of today, we've officially trademarked "Chompie" and our cute little orange dinosaur logo (see the story behind "Chompie" in the last blog entry).

He's a cute little guy isn't he?  We always knew that he'd make a good logo for something... and now he has!  To celebrate the new identity of Chompie, we've made a couple of wallpapers for those of you with iPhones or iPod Touches.  Simply save it to your device and select "Save as Wallpaper".  We'd love to see pictures of it once you do!

We've begun working with a private firm to design the official Chompie logo today. 

The main envision that we have for Chompie's identity was inspired by this (the orange guy).  It's a wind-up dinosaur that my girlfriend Abby actually put in my stocking last Christmas... since then he's sat on my desk, collecting dust in his clear plastic dome of a cave and has inherited the name "Chompie". 

Relaying that same story (and picture) to the guys helping us put together our brand has been helpful to say the least... but I'm anxious for the final results.  Keep an eye on the site over the next few days, as I think we're making good progress.

We're loud, we're proud - we're Chompie.  Over the next... say million years or so, Chompie will grow to become the largest and most actively updated collection of the absolute coolest and most useful websites on the internet. 

Things are progressing... maybe not as fast as we'd like, but there's a lot to do.  Keep an eye on the site, and please don't hesitate to get in touch with us with any ideas or suggestions that you have for Chompie.

Oh and don't sweat the lame logo... we're working on it as we speak (err... type).
